The Original Serenity Prayer

I've been finding it extremely hard to put certain things into words, but I am working on it! In the meantime, I discovered that the well-known Serenity Prayer is not what was originally written. I have found the original Serenity Prayer a much, much harder prayer to pray - but also far more uplifting. So, I thought I'd share it here with you. As you read, please, ponder the words. If it feels right, also feel free to pray this wonderful (difficult) prayer.

God,

Give us the grace to accept with serenity the things that can not be changed,
Courage to change the things which should be changed,
And the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen
